Throughout her career, Mackenzie has worked alongside founders seeking capital, investors evaluating opportunities, executive teams managing growth, and organizations navigating complex strategic decisions.
This breadth of experience provides a practical understanding of how capital, leadership, operations, and communication influence one another. It also allows her to anticipate the questions investors ask, the challenges founders face, and the organizational dynamics that often determine whether opportunities succeed or stall.
Rather than approaching organizations through a single discipline, Black Swan Strategy integrates these perspectives into one cohesive advisory framework designed to strengthen both decision making and execution.
Strategy is most valuable when the decisions carry real consequence.
For more than fifteen years, Mackenzie Kastl has advised organizations navigating growth, capital formation, organizational transformation, and strategic inflection points. Her career has been defined by one consistent theme: helping leaders make better decisions when the stakes are highest.
Her experience spans private equity, investor relations, strategic communications, executive leadership, nonprofit management, public affairs, and organizational strategy. While the industries have varied, the underlying work has remained remarkably consistent. She helps organizations build confidence among investors, align leadership around a common direction, strengthen strategic positioning, and create the conditions for sustainable long term growth.
Mackenzie began her career in global corporate public affairs, supporting strategic communications surrounding the Olympic Games. She later expanded her experience within higher education and nonprofit leadership, where she led fundraising initiatives, organizational transformation, and community partnerships. These roles provided a strong foundation in stakeholder engagement, executive communications, and leadership strategy before she transitioned into private equity and capital formation.
Her work within the private equity sector further refined that expertise. She built investor relations infrastructure for a $200,000,000 private equity fund supporting more than 1,500 investor relationships. In addition to overseeing investor communications, she developed standardized operating procedures, strengthened stakeholder engagement, supported capital raising initiatives, and created scalable systems that improved both operational efficiency and investor confidence.
As founder of Black Swan Strategy, Mackenzie now advises founders, executive teams, investors, and boards across a range of industries, including energy, healthcare, medical technology, longevity, and emerging growth companies. Her advisory work frequently includes capital readiness, investor relations strategy, strategic positioning, executive communications, organizational alignment, and partnership development.
Clients often engage Black Swan Strategy during periods of meaningful change, including capital raises, organizational growth, leadership transitions, market expansion, or strategic repositioning. Mackenzie is known for bringing structure to complexity, identifying opportunities that others overlook, and helping leadership teams communicate with clarity and confidence.
Her philosophy is straightforward. Organizations rarely fail because they lack opportunity. More often, they struggle because strategy, leadership, communication, and execution become misaligned during periods of growth or uncertainty. By restoring alignment across those areas, organizations become better positioned to attract capital, build trust, and execute with greater discipline.
Today, Mackenzie continues to work closely with founders, investors, family offices, and executive leadership teams who recognize that the quality of strategic decisions often determines the quality of long term outcomes.
